Impression – Anthology Brief

Anthology, Blog, Impression Studio, Visual Communication

Our new studio brief consists of two parts, both of which will be in collaboration with the London Met English Literature and Creative Writing Department.

Part one:  A personal visual interpretation of one of the texts that will feature in their anthology. My text is an essay on Rainer Maria Rilke’s Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge (1910).

Part two: Is a group project where we will compete in teams to redesign their bi-annual anthology. The winning team’s concept will be fully realised and printed in an edition of 300.

After getting the brief we were set the task of looking at a variety of books and detailing what they were like, how they were built, paper stock, cover, end pages, layout, dimensions etc. and then what we liked and didn’t about each one, to get our brains started with thinking about our own design for the anthology.
