Creative Industry Practice – Nik Hill: His journey and his work

The very lovely Nick Hill came and gave us a talk last Thursday morning. Nick Hill graduated around five years ago, studying Motion Graphics at London Met. In the years since, he has set himself up freelancing and managed to get some incredible work, most notably through Territory, where he got the job working on Guardians Of The Galaxy and Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

He spoke a lot about how important it is to take advantage of how much time you have at university and to value that time, as well as the freedom to create and experiment.

Talking about getting work he said; “Put yourself in peoples faces, find the companies you want to work for, email them and then call them, and make a brand for yourself.”

“it’s more important to have ideas than it is to know how to use a program”
