First week of new project: Collect, Analyse & (Re)assemble.
Collection. 1. the action or process of collecting someone or something. ‘the collection of data’ 2. a group of things or people. ‘ a rambling collection of houses’
Systems are everywhere. We organise the world to help it make sense. There are systems in nature; whom eats whom, flowers die in winter to come alive again in spring. Cities are collections of people and there is a system of putting people in houses and house are organised in streets. Books are collections of words, libraries are collections of books, with sub-categories placed in alphabetical order (a system of letters that we have made up).
Below are some preliminary ideas as well as observational drawings from the Sir John Soane’s Museum, which we visited on Thursday afternoon.
